Skills and attributes for broking at SCB


- University degree or relevant working experience
- Previous brokerage, sales or trading experience in the market applied for
- Excellent references – we thoroughly check all references

Broking and sales

- Excellent cold calling style and ability to engage and lead a conversation
- An ability to engender trust quickly 
- A methodical and process driven approach to closing a sale  

Corporate literacy

- An applied understanding of codes of conduct

SCB learning and development programmes

At SCB we like to support our staff through learning and development opportunities. Tackling challenges and testing ourselves encourages our staff to be the best that they can be.


Educational Leave Programme

It is important that employees receive training in the skills that they need for their jobs. SCB Group has an Educational Leave programme open to employees with 2.5 years continuous service. Qualifying employees may request the company to pay for them to attend a conference or executive education event.  As part of this programme one employee decided to use the opportunity to take part in a management training course.

“I was very pleased to be given the chance to undergo further learning with the support of SCB. It’s easy to become entrenched in the daily routine of your specific role, so I saw a management course as a good way to gain a refreshing perspective from people outside the company and indeed outside our industry. Moreover, as SCB looks to grow its presence in Asia, it’s important to gain as much knowledge as possible on doing business in the region. The Stanford/NUS Executive Programme in International Management course I took part in lasted two weeks and was very useful. It offered a broad overview of corporate Asia as well as touching on business trends currently taking place elsewhere in the world. The course was also useful for meeting new people and gaining handy tips on growing a business in Asia and managing a team of people.”

Enterprise Leave Programme

SCB has a social Enterprise Leave Programme where an employee with more than two years continuous service may take one week per year paid leave to engage in social or charitable initiatives.

One employee did just that:

“In October 2014, SCB provided me with the opportunity to go on a fantastic adventure: I joined a team of 9 women to climb 3 mountains in South America with the Peaks Foundation for their “3 Peaks 3 Weeks Challenge”.  Peaks Foundation is a charitable organization that SCB has supported for many years. Their aim is to empower women worldwide through mountain-based challenges, while raising money for local organizations in mountain communities. Our team raised over $79,000 to support girls, women, and conservation in Peru and Chile.
